Alan Lewis 45 n/o, David Perry 17 n/o, Muhammed T Raza 4-22, Usman Khalid 2-3, Eddie George 2-20, Vivek Parekh 2-21 - see report/summary

This is a remote report as I was over the border at iPro (Fulham get a dose of Championship quality at the hands of the Rams to the tune of 5-1) and then getting chill as the night pulled in, which eventually led to the abandonment of the Firsts' game at WI Cavaliers - see report when I have scoresheet information. Thanks for the key details from captain Eddie George and my wife. Kinoulton were already relegated and it seems their commitment to the match was (shall we say?) muted. By 1:30pm they only had 4 on the ground and there was obvious concern the game would be forfeit by the visitors. A while later I am told a car load of another 5 rolled up and eventually they made up the full number of what sounds like pretty reluctant opposition. Still, there was a game to be won and Ellerslie II's seamers needed little invitation to make early in roads with Vivek Parekh taking out the openers before the all action deliveries of MT Raza got to work. He got the longest spell for 12-4-22-4. Apart from a brief stand from 38-4 to 61-5 by Mohammed Tafseer and Raja Imran the innings was in a downwards spiral. The captain and Usman Khalid chipped in and it was all done at dusted within 27 overs for 70 a/o. It was straight into the reply with the aim (in pushing for promotion) to get maximum points - so to get it done within 17 overs. At first this was a slight concern with "Chewy" Lewis and David Perry reaching just 19 in 8 overs. However, after last week's heroics at Bramcote (see my report) "Chewy" is in a rich vein of form and soon he was finding the boundary (8 in all) to ensure 20 points in the 17th over. So the possibility of getting into "C" in Eddie's first season in charge remains a possibility which would be a fine effort for a happy team. Time now for a leisurely tea prepared by Mrs G featuring (all home made) 2 trifles with blackberries and jelly, banana cakes (with cherries) and plum and chocolate crumble. Lucky them! Soon the heavens opened with a heavy deluge leaving all to think the game might well have been washed away if the end had not been so swift. One game to go: at Underwood.
