On an increasingly damp and cold Saturday afternoon our Seconds and Thirds (bolstered by a liberal smattering of Firsts) did battle on adjoining pitches at Radcliffe.
The Seconds just failed to defend a competitive 171 - featuring a nice partnership between Sam Miller (22) and Suman Shresta (64) - and vital runs at no 10 by captain Eddy George (31). At 118-8 the game looked to be won but with a bit of luck and some fine strokes Stuart Mills (45 n/o) saw the home team home in the final over by one wicket. Pick of the bowlers was Oli Taylor with 5-41.
Over the way the Thirds chased down 160 with Usman Khalid making early strikes with 4-42. Later Matt Wharmby (2-9) and Kane Wilson chipped in (3-24). After losing early wickets Dan Footitt and Rohit Patel (good to have him back after so many years) ensured a 5 wicket win with unbeaten 50s.
Honours even. Warmer next time please!
