The 2nd XI just came out the wrong end of a close game at Farndon but after the G&S debacle this was a lot better. Without openers Alan Lewis (alas "Chewy has retired - he will be missed by all - fond memories of his epic at Fordians last summer) and Ekroop Saib (exam revision) captain Eddy George took on the role - a slot many of us think is long overdue. He made 36 with the hitting coming later from "Bellars" and MT Raza (3 6's in 30). The 40 over target with the home team reduced to 42-4 by "Uzzy" looked good, but skip Hubbard took control with 78. However, he fell a few runs short but they got over the finishing line with 2 balls to spare. A couple of crucial dropped catches did not help but such is the nature of cricket.
