Ellerslie's U11s managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat with a remarkable finish to an enthralling encounter.
With the weather causing chaos, the umpires decided to reduce each innings to 12 overs. Ellerslie batted first on a difficult pitch, posting a respectable 259 but with 5 wickets lost, the target was a modest 230.
Bramcote's reply was blistering from the outset: after 6 overs , they reached 230/0 and were cruising to victory. However, accurate, tight bowling from Cameron Musson and Faizan Ul-Haq backed up by 2 outstanding run outs by Sancho Ahodeji-Ansell took the game to the last over with scores level at 229.
Adnan Akhtar was given the responsibility of the final over and he did not disappoint. With a wicket off the first ball clean bowled, the match had swung in Ellerslie's favour, but with the next two balls dispatched to the boundary the pressure was back on Adnan.
He then produced an unplayable delivery which knocked back leg stump, and a run out off the final ball ensured it was Ellerslie who snatched the unlikeliest of victories.
